Voordat allo gebruikt\u00a0kan worden in ons product wordt\u00a0het eerst met de hand bewerkt in kleine dorpjes in de bergen van Nepal. Het vervaardigen van Allo is een rijke inheemse traditie die al eeuwenlang wordt uitgevoerd door de lokale bevolking. De schors van Allo wordt gebruikt voor een verscheidenheid van geweven producten, namelijk kleding, tassen, zakken, tafelkleden, dekens, etc. Vandaag de dag biedt het verwerken van Allo werk voor veel\u00a0Nepalezen\u00a0en zo ook voor de makers van onze rugzakken. Allo vormt een goed voorbeeld van het traditionele Nepalese ambacht in de moderne eco-friendly textiel markt.<\/p>\n<h2>Verwerkingsproces van Allo (Netels)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Allo wordt ge\u00ebxtraheerd uit de plant Allo Susni maar omdat de plant tussen de 900 en 2500 meter boven zeeniveau\u00a0groeit zijn de meeste gebieden voor het oogsten moeilijk bereikbaar. Het duurt een paar dagen om te voet naar het bos te reizen, Allo te oogsten, en terug te keren met een lading Allo schors.\u00a0De stammen worden na het oogsten\u00a0een aantal dagen neergelegd om te drogen en daarna wordt het\u00a0afgepeld. Het afpellen verwijdert de buitenste schors en laat de binnenste schors\u00a0intact voor verdere verwerking.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"s1\">Het spinnen wordt \u00f3f met behulp van een houten hand spil, genaamd Katuwa, gedaan, \u00f3f met een spinnewiel, \u201cCharkha\u201d. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">De volgende stap bevat het koken van de binnenste schors in een vat met as van hout om de vezels te verlichten en zacht te maken. Dit duurt zo\u2019n 2-3 uur. Na het koken volgt\u00a0een repetitief proces van het slaan met een houten hamer op de schors in water om de vezels losser te maken, dit gebeurt normaal gesproken in een stroom of rivier. D<\/span><span class=\"s1\">e bundels van schone vezels worden nu in de zon gelegd om te drogen. Als dit klaar is wordt het nog\u00a0verder\u00a0geweekt\u00a0in water en gemixt met gemalen mais (meestvoorkomend in het westelijke deel van Nepal), of Kamero (lokaal beschikbare witte klei met mica) om een mooie witte schittering te krijgen. Tot slot worden de vezels ge\u00ebxtraheerd met behulp van simpele huishoudelijke spullen zoals een tang\u00a0en, indien de vezels\u00a0eenmaal zacht zijn, wordt het gesponnen in garen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17205 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-80x49.jpg 80w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-400x246.jpg 400w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-800x492.jpg 800w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-960x590.jpg 960w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-600x369.jpg 600w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/himalayanbagshop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/allo-plant-80x49@2x.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Voornamelijk vrouwen zijn betrokken in alle stadia van het verzamelen en verwerken van Allo. Het spinnen wordt \u00f3f met behulp van een houten hand spil, genaamd Katuwa, gedaan, \u00f3f met een spinnewiel, \u201cCharkha\u201d. Charkha kent twee varianten heeft: De hand bediende \u201chaate\u201d of voet bediende \u201ckhutte\u201d. Het proces van het handmatig spinnen van de vezels is een monotone bezigheid en kan erg lang duren. Gelukkig\u00a0worden er steeds meer door stroom aangedreven machines gebruikt in de gebieden waar er stroom beschikbaar is.
